Phnom Penh To KepThe real adventure beginsAs we fire up our vintage jeep and leave the bustling streets of Phnom Penh behind, the excitement builds. The first few hours will be a thrilling ride through the city's vibrant chaos, but as we break free from the urban sprawl, the landscape transforms. The scenery unfolds into a tapestry of lush rice fields, and the closer we get to Kep, the more majestic limestone hills rise from the horizon, painting the landscape with a unique charm.
We'll venture into one of these limestone hills to explore a breathtaking cave. Its open roof allows sunlight to pour in, casting an ethereal glow that gives the cave an otherworldly dimension. From here, it's just a short drive to our final destination for the day: Kep, a seaside town once famously known as "Khmer sur mer" in the 1960s. This popular resort was nearly destroyed during the Khmer Rouge regime, but efforts are underway to restore it to its former glory. As we arrive in Kep, the blend of colonial history, natural beauty, and the sound of the waves will leave you eager for the adventures that await.Accommodation

Before reaching this hidden gem, we'll enjoy a scenic river crossing by ferry boat, adding another layer to our adventure.
Historically, the terrain between Chiphat and Areang was considered impassable, defying even the efforts of motorbikes. But recently, a new dirt road has been carved through this challenging landscape, offering an exciting and exclusive jeep trail. Tatai To Veal VengDeep into the Cardamom MountainsWe wave goodbye to Canvas and Orchids and by boat we go back to the mainland. A new adventure calls us further into the Cardamom Mountains, where our jeeps feel right at home. Not long ago, this area was impenetrable for regular cars. Since 2013, we've been braving the dusty dirt roads here with our jeeps, with a 150-kilometer journey taking almost a full day – a true expedition!
Now, a brand new, smooth asphalt road winds its way from Koh Kong to Battambang. But don't let that fool you! For us, the thrill of traversing this breathtaking landscape in our jeeps remains as strong as ever. We consider this one of the absolute gems of Cambodia. And believe it or not, we've still discovered some fantastic off-road routes that make our hearts beat faster.
Especially the final leg of the journey to your accommodation is a real treat for the adventurer in us. With our vintage jeeps, we rumble along narrow dirt tracks, past sprawling plantations and through picturesque villages – an authentic experience! Our destination for tonight is a unique place, strategically built on a hilltop. Prepare yourself for a spectacular view of the surroundings, a reward after this exhilarating day

We drive through beautiful landscapes and hills with vast plantations of bananas, durian and mangoes. We have lunch at a small river where it is also possible to swim. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to enter Angelina Jolie's house, but a sneaky view from the fence gives us a little peek into her summer residence. We continue our journey and sometimes drive over bumpy roads alternated with good roads
In the afternoon, we'll arrive in Battambang, Cambodia's second-largest city. Nestled along the banks of the picturesque Sangker River, Battambang exudes a unique charm. The city boasts a rich and impressive history, marked by both Khmer and Thai influences. It once served as a vital trading hub and was under Thai rule, which is still evident in its architecture and cultural traditions. Our local guide will delve into the fascinating history of this city tomorrow.
At 6:30 PM, we'll pick you up and transport you to the captivating world of Phare, The Cambodian Circus. This evening performance is a unique blend of modern circus arts, high-energy music, and traditional Cambodian storytelling. No smartphone or internet? No problem! Even if you don't have a smartphone or internet connection, you can still fill out the E-arrival card. Use the tablets available at most airports in Cambodia
Footnote: A Cambodian E-Visa is valid for use at international airports and a limited number of designated land border crossings. Please be aware that not all border checkpoints accept the E-Visa. Always check the official Ministry website for the latest accepted entry points.
This limitation also applies to the E-Arrival Card in Cambodia. The E-Arrival Card is only accepted for arrivals by air.
If you enter Cambodia overland, you are still required to manually complete the physical Arrival/Departure form.
Vaccinations
In general, Cambodia is a safe country to travel. There are no compulsory vaccinations for Cambodia required by law for travelers from Western countries to gain entry. Nevertheless, there is a certain list of vaccinations that you may consider to make sure your stay will safe in the country. The following is a rough guide only. We cannot tell you exactly what you need, as recommendations often change and depend on your health stauts and what you do in the country. Refer to your local health care provider for the most recent information on the vaccines required for Cambodia with expertise in travel medicine who can review your individual health issue. The most common vaccinations are for Tetanus, Typhoid, Hepatitis A and Rabis. T
here is no yellow fever disease in Cambodia, and you cannot contract it there. But Customs in Cambodia might ask you for proof of yellow fever vaccination in either of these circumstances: You’re a citizen of a country where yellow fever is endemic. Check this map. For example: if you’re living in the US but traveling using an Argentinian passport, proof of yellow fever vaccination might be required because part of Argentina is a yellow fever zone You’ve traveled to a country where yellow fever is endemic within the last 30 days. For example: You’re an American citizen, but 10 days ago you went to Ghana. Ghana is a country where yellow fever is endemic, so you’ll have to present proof of yellow fever vaccination to Customs upon entering Cambodia.
Currency
The local currency in Cambodia is the Riel. The general exchange rate is 4000 Riel for 1 US Dollar. Do not exchange euros for Riels at the airport or at a border because of the high rate. Everything in Cambodia is paid in US dollars with the local currency being used as change for amounts less than a dollar.
Cambodia does not work with coins. You can easily withdraw money with your bankcard (US Dollars or Khmer Riel). The maximum amount varies between $300 to $500. The banks there require a fee depending on the withdrawal amount ($5 - $8) and the bank in your country will also require a fee for the money withdrawal here. Do not forget to change your bankcard to “World” before your departure.
